I never said I loved you

nanas ashes

This isn’t really a self portrait, but it is.  My dead father took this picture at my asking of me blowing my dead Nana’s (his mother) ashes from my hand along with the ashes of her on my lips.  We spent the day collecting her unexpectedly heavy bag of ashes from the crematorium, proceeded to find with little direction the place at which she wanted to be scattered and then went on home.  I, the child and the dominant party, asked to have some ceremony back home in the garden. “Can we keep some ashes back?”  The pictures happened thanks to my open minded sweet father.
